University is a time of opportunity and learning – much of which takes place outside of the lecture theatre – but it can also be a time of great anxiety. For many young people, this is the first time that they have lived away from the family home and are separated from childhood friends. It is also, despite popular belief, a substantial intellectual challenge making the leap to university from A ‘level studies, with far less support and structure available than students might be used to.
